Is Salman Khan's 'Battle of Galwan' in trouble? Chinese media labels film; criticizes it for “distorting facts”

NEW DELHI: The Chinese state-backed Global Times has criticized Salman KhanIn the upcoming film Battle of Galwan, he claimed that the film “distorts facts”.“Bollywood films offer at most an entertainment-oriented, emotionally charged portrayal, but no amount of cinematic exaggeration can rewrite history or shake the PLA’s resolve to defend China’s sovereign territory,” Global Times quoted an expert as saying.The film is inspired by the clashes between Indian and Chinese forces in Galwan Valley along the Line of Actual Control in 2020. In the confrontation on June 16, 2020, 20 Indian soldiers were killed and the Chinese side also suffered significant losses.

The film’s teaser was released on the occasion of Salman Khan’s birthday and the actor revealed it on his Instagram account. The preview shows Salman in the role of an Indian Army officer with a stern and controlled demeanor.Set against harsh landscapes and icy conditions, the teaser showcases hand-to-hand combat sequences that provide a glimpse into the harsh reality and challenges soldiers face at high altitudes.Following the clashes, tensions between India and China escalated, prompting the army to deploy additional formations in and around the Galwan Valley along the Line of Actual Control in Ladakh. The armed forces also conducted several measures, including border surveys, to guard against possible Chinese aggression.Since then, both sides have gradually disengaged from several friction points along the border and established buffer zones in several areas.
