Pralay Missile Test: India Conducts Successful Salvo Launch Off Odisha Coast - Watch

NEW DELHI: India successfully conducted a salvo launch of two indigenous Pralay missiles in quick succession from the same launch vehicle off Odisha coast on Wednesday, marking a major milestone in user assessment trials. According to a defense ministry statement, the tests were conducted near the Integrated Test Range in Chandipur around 10.30 am.Both missiles followed their intended trajectory and reached all targets. Tracking sensors deployed by the Integrated Test Range confirmed the performance, while telemetry systems installed on a ship near the impact points verified the end events. The launch demonstrated the operational reliability and operational readiness of the missile system.Pralay is a solid-propellant quasi-ballistic missile designed in-house with advanced guidance and navigation systems to ensure high precision. It is capable of carrying different types of warheads and attacking a range of targets, the Defense Ministry said.The rocket was developed by Imarat Research Center in Hyderabad in collaboration with several others DRDO Laboratories and Indian industrial partners. Bharat Dynamics Limited and Bharat Electronics Limited acted as development and production partners and integrated the systems for the testing. Senior DRDO scientists, Indian Air Force and Indian Army officials and industry representatives were present at the trials.Minister of Defense Rajnath Singh commended DRDO, armed forces, public defense sector undertakings and industry for the successful launch. According to news agency ANI, he said the completion of the salvo launch proves the reliability of the Pralay missile system.Samir V. Kamat, Chairman and Secretary of the Ministry of Defense Research and Development, also congratulated the participating teams. He said the successful flight tests indicate that the missile system is close to induction into the armed forces, according to ANI.The test launch further strengthened India’s missile capabilities as both missiles achieved all planned targets during the user assessment phase.
