After a choppy week of trading, gold futures posted a slight increase on Friday morning. On the MCX, gold was quoted at Rs 1,37,805 per 10 gram for the February 5 contract, up Rs 63 or 0.05%. However, the overall tone for gold remained weak as a stronger US dollar and ongoing adjustments in commodity indices continued to weigh on prices. Traders were also cautious ahead of the release of U.S. non-farm payrolls data later in the day, which is expected to impact near-term price action. In overseas markets, spot gold prices fell 0.4% to $4,458.10 an ounce at 0126 GMT, while U.S. gold futures for February delivery rose 0.2% to $4,467.60 an ounce. Meanwhile, the US dollar index was marginally higher at around 98.95 in early Asian trading, dampening demand for bullion among non-dollar investors.This is how much gold costs in your city today:
