A case has been registered after the Block Development Office (BDO) in Farakka, Murshidabad was allegedly ransacked by a group of unidentified men on Monday afternoon, leaving a poll worker injured. BJP MP Gouri Sankar accused ruling TMC Farakka MP Manirul Islam of leading the vandalism at the government premises. In a sharp attack, Sankar also attacked Mamata Banerjee for inciting her party cadres to riot and violence across the state.Speaking to news agency ANI, Sankar said, “Today, Farakka MLA Manirul Islam demolished the main office. How can a public representative destroy property? Who gave him the right to do that? Are these not Indian citizens or are they Bangladeshis who think they can destroy a main office in India?”He said people will watch and give them a befitting reply in the 2026 West Bengal assembly elections. “The public is ready to give them a befitting answer. In the 2026 elections, whether Manirul or anyone else, they will get their answer from the public,” he said.Accusing the Bengal CM, BJP said, “Mamata Banerjee is inciting her party cadres across the state to riot, commit violence and destroy property. All these actions are carried out on the instructions of Mamata Banerjee. And wherever there was corruption, misbehavior or destruction in Bengal, it was all on the instructions of Mamata. And even today’s actions were carried out on the instructions of Mamata.”According to the written complaint filed by Block Development Officer (BDO) Junaid Ahamed, the incident took place around 1:30 pm while a summary appeal hearing (SIR) was underway at the office.
