US President Donald Trump addressed the nation on Wednesday (local time) and outlined what he described as major achievements in foreign policy, economics, border security and domestic governance during his presidency. The 47th POTUS began his address with a blistering criticism of his predecessor Joe Biden for what he called the “worst” border crisis in U.S. history.“We inherited the worst border in the world and quickly made it the strongest border in our country’s history,” he said.“Eleven months ago, I inherited a mess, and I’m in the process of fixing it,” Trump said.
In his address, Trump claimed that he had resolved numerous international conflicts and reshaped the US global position. “I restored America’s strength, settled eight wars in 10 months, destroyed the nuclear threat from Iran and ended the war in Gaza – bringing peace to the Middle East for the first time in 3,000 years and securing the release of hostages living and dead,” he said. The US president also highlighted economic progress and attributed the investment inflows to his trade policies. “I have already secured a record $18 trillion in investment in the United States, meaning jobs, wage increases, growth, factory openings and far greater national security. Much of this success has been achieved through tariffs; my favorite word: tariffs, which have been successfully used against us by other countries for many decades.” But not anymore,” Trump said. He added that companies were increasingly moving production back to the United States. “Companies know there will be no tariffs if they build in America. That’s why they’re returning to the U.S. in record numbers. They’re building factories and facilities on a scale we’ve never seen before,” he said. Trump also spoke about drug control and cultural issues and called for a drastic reduction in drug flows. “Drugs imported by Ocean and Sea have fallen by 94%. We have broken the influence of dark, woke radicals in our schools,” he said, repeating: “I restored American strength, settled eight wars in 10 months, destroyed the nuclear threat from Iran and ended the war in Gaza – bringing peace to the Middle East for the first time in 3,000 years.”” On immigration, Trump said his administration has transformed border security. “We inherited the worst border in the world and quickly made it the strongest border in our country’s history. In other words, we went from worst to best in a matter of months,” he said. Finally, the president compared his leadership to that of previous administrations. “For the past four years, the United States has been governed by politicians who fought only for insiders, illegal immigrants, career criminals, corporate lobbyists, prisoners, terrorists and, most of all, foreign nations that have taken advantage of us on an unprecedented scale,” Trump said. “But now you have a president who fights for the law-abiding, hard-working people of our country – the ones who keep this nation running.”
